Earth Day, the City of Houston honored Proler Industries and the Proler family with an official proclamation declaring Proler Family Day.

This recognition celebrates our legacy of innovation and commitment to sustainability, values that have guided us for more than a century.

The honor highlights the invention of the Prolerizer, the world’s first automobile shredding machine, developed right here in Houston in 1961. This breakthrough changed the recycling industry forever—reducing landfill waste, conserving natural resources, and setting new standards for environmental responsibility.

The Prolerizer came to life thanks to the ingenuity of our family and the craftsmanship of Houston’s local, family-owned fabrication shops, whose skill and dedication brought the pieces together.
